Queer February 2026 Book Releases

Getting ahead with another anticipated queer book releases post! Here's what caught my attention and why in February releases.

Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die by Greer Strothers

(February 3rd)

The cover for Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die by Greer Strothers features a purple banner shot through with red arrows, gold and black filigree details, a portrait of a shadowy, figure, and an apparently shocked cartoon vulture.

Sir Cameron is quite frankly too handsome to die a pointless death in battle, but when a prophecy declares that his death is the only way to defeat the mad sorcerer Merulo, Cameron throws himself on the mercy of the one person who now actually wants him to survive: the mad sorcerer. As a legion of knights surround their stronghold, the sorcerer’s poisonous ambitions draw ever closer to fruition. Cameron is quite invested in not dying, but it turns out he’s also really, really into surly sorcerers who lock him up and tell him what to do. And sometimes, supporting the sorcerer you care about means taking an interest in their hobbies. Even if that hobby is trying to kill God.

Nightshade & Oak by Molly O’Neill

(February 3rd)

The cover of Nightshade & Oak by Molly O’Neill features a mirrored image of two brown-haired women framed by oak branches with acorns and nightshade twisting around them.

When an Iron Age death goddess, Malt, is accidentally turned human by a spell, she finds herself unable to fend for herself and forced to team up with a warrior on a perilous journey to restore her powers.

Saltswept by Katalina Watt

(February 5th)

The cover of Saltswept by Katalina Watt features a turquoise whirlpool raging around a ship with three red sails, and a tree with twisting branches curving around the left side of the image with hibiscus flowers, as if it, too is being sucked into the whirlpool.

The first book in an epic fantasy duology based on Southeast Asian mythology finds a ragtag crew of misfits on a perilous quest to sail into a raging whirlpool to find the mysterious treasure hidden within. The stakes are far higher than riches, however, as the magic of the world is in danger, the barrier between life and death wears thin, and a power-hungry queen threatens the world.

A Slow and Secret Poison by Carmella Lowkis

(February 10th)

The cover of A Slow and Secret Poison by Carmella Lowkis features a stark black background, over which are scattered dandelions, prickly thistles, and poppies. A large jackrabbit leaps toward the bottom left, partially cut off as though it were jumping right out of the scene.

In the early 1900s, young gardener Vee Morgan accepts a job at a lush English manor where she falls in love with her employer. Lady Arabella's past is shrouded in deadly secrets, the last surviving member of a family supposedly cursed to die one at a time.

A Vow Made Twice by Emma Denny

(February 17th)

The cover for A Vow Made Twice by Emma Denny features three figures standing among rosebushes against a green forest background. Front left is a person with a feminine appearance with pale skin and orange hair braided into a crown around their head. They wear a green cloak and brown tunic, with a quiver of arrows on their back, holding a bow and arrow before them. Front center is a tall, tan man with wavy brown hair and a beard and mustache, wearing a high-necked red shirt with gold trim and white fur on the shoulders. He is looking toward the figure on the right in the background, who is a pale man with long blond hair and a goatee and mustache, wearing a white tunic and brown pants. His arms are crossed as he looks toward the man in the center.

The third in a series I have not read, and will have to correct. After inheriting his father's title, Earl Ash Barden must ensure the family line by finding a wife, despite having made vows to a long-dead lover. "Skilled bowman and unconventional widow" Agnes wants to avoid marrying the childhood friend her family is pressuring her into wedding, and Ash is the perfect way out. They're both agreed when a roadside attack thrusts a familiar face back into Ash's life, and he questions whether his heart has room for both past and present affections.

The Red Winter by Cameron Sullivan

(February 24th)

The cover of The Red Winter by Cameron Sullivan has a plain, grey-ish white background. The bottom half has an illustration of a black and grey wolf-like creature with a long snout, red eyes, and twisting, tree-branch-like horns. A half-bloomed white lily with red stripes is in the lower left corner.

In a fictionalized French countryside, 1785, monster slayer Professor Sebastian Grave receives news that the terrible Beast of GƩvaudan has returned. It nearly cost Grave his life to bring the monster down twenty years ago, even with the help of a heart-eating indwelling demon. Now, an estranged lover offers Grave a chance to finish the Beast for good and the possibility of reconciliation. But GƩvaudan is not as he remembers it, France teeters on the edge of revolution, and the Beast stands poised to plunge the continent into war.
