Queer February 2026 Book Releases
Getting ahead with another anticipated queer book releases post! Here's what caught my attention and why in February releases.
Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die by Greer Strothers
(February 3rd)

Sir Cameron is quite frankly too handsome to die a pointless death in battle, but when a prophecy declares that his death is the only way to defeat the mad sorcerer Merulo, Cameron throws himself on the mercy of the one person who now actually wants him to survive: the mad sorcerer. As a legion of knights surround their stronghold, the sorcererās poisonous ambitions draw ever closer to fruition. Cameron is quite invested in not dying, but it turns out heās also really, really into surly sorcerers who lock him up and tell him what to do. And sometimes, supporting the sorcerer you care about means taking an interest in their hobbies. Even if that hobby is trying to kill God.
- Hilarious title already has me hooked
- āIn Which Many Dangerous and Homosexual Things Happen.ā Another immaculately crafted blurb
- Reclusive grouches falling for someone who has a half-filled Twinkie for a brain will always be a beloved trope of mine
Nightshade & Oak by Molly OāNeill
(February 3rd)

When an Iron Age death goddess, Malt, is accidentally turned human by a spell, she finds herself unable to fend for herself and forced to team up with a warrior on a perilous journey to restore her powers.
- Goddess turned mortal is super useless and totally pissy about it
- Lady warrior fed up with her shit
Saltswept by Katalina Watt
(February 5th)

The first book in an epic fantasy duology based on Southeast Asian mythology finds a ragtag crew of misfits on a perilous quest to sail into a raging whirlpool to find the mysterious treasure hidden within. The stakes are far higher than riches, however, as the magic of the world is in danger, the barrier between life and death wears thin, and a power-hungry queen threatens the world.
- pirates, pick-pockets, peril, and priestesses, alliteration my beloved
- also something called an Ottercat, which is literally all I need to know
A Slow and Secret Poison by Carmella Lowkis
(February 10th)

In the early 1900s, young gardener Vee Morgan accepts a job at a lush English manor where she falls in love with her employer. Lady Arabella's past is shrouded in deadly secrets, the last surviving member of a family supposedly cursed to die one at a time.
- Gorgeous cover
- 1920s creepy estate, weird local folklore, and cursed lesbians
A Vow Made Twice by Emma Denny
(February 17th)

The third in a series I have not read, and will have to correct. After inheriting his father's title, Earl Ash Barden must ensure the family line by finding a wife, despite having made vows to a long-dead lover. "Skilled bowman and unconventional widow" Agnes wants to avoid marrying the childhood friend her family is pressuring her into wedding, and Ash is the perfect way out. They're both agreed when a roadside attack thrusts a familiar face back into Ash's life, and he questions whether his heart has room for both past and present affections.
- Not usually into poly in general, but?? This just sounds delightfully gay
- Can we please use the term unconventional widow more often because what a great phrase
- convoluted marriages of convenience are so much fun
The Red Winter by Cameron Sullivan
(February 24th)

In a fictionalized French countryside, 1785, monster slayer Professor Sebastian Grave receives news that the terrible Beast of GƩvaudan has returned. It nearly cost Grave his life to bring the monster down twenty years ago, even with the help of a heart-eating indwelling demon. Now, an estranged lover offers Grave a chance to finish the Beast for good and the possibility of reconciliation. But GƩvaudan is not as he remembers it, France teeters on the edge of revolution, and the Beast stands poised to plunge the continent into war.
- Estranged lovers, heart-eating demons and a great beast
- Dark histories and terrible secrets in a fantasy-flavored 18th century France just about to tip over into revolution
